Evolution of Consciusness(Post 20)-New Mind

New Mind

When we say New Mind, we mean the quality of freshness.

We mentioned in the last post that the Mind is Timeless, so it can never be old.

Being dominated by the Brain (Past- Thoughts), it mimics the quality of the brain (Body)

, getting old.

But, actually it is the dullness due to repetition (The Past) and being caught in the groove.

As one grows older, past stretches longer, so Mind that is dictated by the Brain (Past)

become progressively dull, to the extent of being senile.

Mind also feels inadequate to respond to new situations with past ideas.

This inadequacy makes it take refuge in the past (Those are Golden Days).

That is because Mind (True-Self) is no longer the Master, it is the Brain (Ego-Self) that

Dictates and the Mind acts mechanically and as a consequence struggle for its freedom.

How to bring about a New Mind or Free Mind

It has been tried both politically and religiously to bring about the New or Free Mind.

Political (Intellectual)

Political Revolutions claimed a New Social Order (External) will bring about a New

Man.

They promised Utopia, if people can get over their individuality (Ego-Self) for the sake

of Society ( Collective Ego-Self, not True or Wider consciousness).

They believed External Changes will bring about change in man’s psyche (Internal).

People participated and compromised their ‘Ego-Self’ hoping for Utopia.

It never happened,

When the system collapsed, the suppressed identities (Ego) came out in full force

breaking up the nations and causing ethnic wars and destruction.

Religious (Faith)

From very ancient times, Religions promised Heaven, if people surrender their Ego to

God.

Each religion had  own system, doctrines and dogmas etc.

They believed Faith and other Methods will bring about change in the man’s psyche.

But ‘Unconditional Surrender’ to God on Faith gradually became unconditional Loyalty

to the Religious Institutions and dictates of the authorities.

That brought about many wars and destruction.

In both the cases New Man or New Mind has never arrived.

(There may be exceptions at individual level)

The point is neither the promises of Utopia / Heaven nor Coercion / Persuasion,

is able dislodge the Ego or Ego-Self.

Both the systems changed the external conditions of man but hardly

touched the inner core (‘ I ‘)  of the Man.

External changes can address only external crisis – what all governments does.

For Internal Transformation to take place, one has to recognize that crisis is internal and

the external order or disorder is only its reflection.

It is the crisis of consciousness and one must turn inward to address the problem.

This internal crisis can be resolved only by liberating the Mind from the clutches of the

Brain (Psychological Past – Ego-Self)

Once this internal crisis is resolved, the Brain (The Past) will find its right place and the

Mind will be free.

This freedom is its nature, it is not ‘Freedom from’, it is absolute, the mother of all

freedoms that we aspire in our empirical life.

Free Mind is the New Mind.

This will bring about qualitative changes in the relationships with others and nature.

From there, one may build Utopia or Heaven on Earth.

At least that is the plausible idea.
